With the town situated in the heart of the Massif Central at the foot of the Puy De Sancy summer activities and pastimes are numerous and easily accessible


Getting around couldn't be easier with a local bus and train services linking the towns in the valley and other places of interest including Clermont Ferrand and Volvic

 

Walking

With over 650 kms of marked trails in the surrounding area, it makes exploring the area on foot and discovering waterfalls, fauna and flora a real pleasure.

 

Mountain Biking
(VTT)

With over 400 kms of dedicated trails, classified in the same way as ski pistes (black - difficult, red - intermediate, blue - easy) you can plan your day out to make it as easy or demanding as you like.
Mountain bike hire is available locally.

 

Road Cycling

There are many randocycle circuits including some some challenging routes which have formed part of the Tour De France. (See www.sancy.com/activites/rando-cyclo_306.cfm)

 

Angling

There are 150 kms of streams and rivers and numerous lakes providing Game (Premier Category) and Course (Secondary Category) fishing - we can arrange permits on request.

Climbing

With many valleys and scarps around the local area there are extensive climbing opportunities - full details and guiding are provided by the local mountain security team.

Pony / Horse Trekking

With an equestrian centre located in town arranging a day out on horse back couldn't be easier.
Young children can enjoy shorter rides on Shetland Ponies.

 

Accrobranche

Located in the Capucin area of the valley there is an aerial assault course in the forest.
With three levels of difficulty there's something for even the most feint hearted to enjoy. www.montdoreaventures.com

 

Parapenting

There is a parapenting club based in Le Mont Dore offering an opportunity to view the beauty of the Massif Central from the skies www.montdorparapente.com

 

Swimming

There are indoor and outdoor pools in nearby La Bourboule and many of the local lakes allow swimming.

There are several tennis courts

 

Boules

There are boules and petanque courts

 

Golf

There is a nine hole golf course

 

Summer luge There is a fun toboggan run in summer.
